USA Gymnastics is the governing body for youth gymnastics in the United States and Top Flight Gymnastics Center Girls Team will compete within this organization. USA Gymnastics has six levels in which we compete. Each level is divided into age groups to be determined by USAG and the State Board. Preteam B (Level 4) gymnasts may be introduced to competition. All of the subsequent levels are progressively more advanced. If qualifying scores are achieved at any level, a gymnast may advance to the next competitive level at the coach’s discretion.

Prior Team Level: Recreational Classes, usually Fit & Five Invite
Next Team Level: Girls PreTeam B (USAG Level 3)

  • non-competitive program to prepare gymnasts for entry into the competitive levels
  • Team Director makes Preteam selections with respect to ability, desire, and potential at the end of each year, the gymnast will be evaluated to see if she is ready to move to the competitive levels

  • Prepares gymnasts for entry into the competitive program seven Level 4 meets

  • Train towards next competitive level
  • Ten meets per year, determined by Team Director
  • To introduce gymnastics dance
  • Determine the limiting factors (physical, mental, and emotional demands of competitive gymnastics)
  • Determine ability to maintain a rigorous training schedule
  • Determine if parents and family can accommodate the demands of competitive gymnastics from a financial, emotional, and time commitment standpoint including CMGO responsibilities (see CMGO Handbook)

 

 Girls USAG Level 5 Compulsory

Next Team Level: Girls USAG Levels 6/7-10 Optional Competition

  • Compete compulsory routines only
  • Competitive season is from January to early May
  • Pre-season meets begin as early as October
  • Competes in ten meets to learn to manage the stress of competition
  • Determine speed to learn new skills
  • Determine potential for higher-level optional competition
  • Provide travel opportunities within Region 7. (Region 7 includes: DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, WV)
  • Provide an individualized dance program
  • Introduce optional skills
  • Qualify into state and regional competition in the USA Gymnastics (USAG) program

  • Compete only optional routines with varying degrees of difficulty
  • Based on gymnast’s physical and emotional characteristics
  • Progress towards a higher optional levels
  • Provide a dance program which is designed for optional competition
  • Qualify into state, regional, and national competitions within the USA Gymnastics (USAG) program
  • Provide opportunities for national travel during the year
  • Level 7 competes Invitational and State meets
  • Level 8 competes Invitational, State and Regional meets
  • Level 9 competes Invitational, State, Regional and East West Championship meets
  • Level 10 competes Invitational, State, Regional and National meets
